Swiss Re, decreasing first quarter result in 2018

In the first quarter of 2018, Swiss Re achieved a net profit of 457 million USD, down by 30%. This decrease is attributable to the change of the US-GAAP accounting standard since January 1, 2018. This amount, however, remains higher than the group's expectations of a profit of 447 million USD.

As for the turnover generated by the Swiss reinsurer, it increased by 13.1% to reach 11.5 billion USD. The non-life combined ratio gained 3.6 points from 95.6% at the end of March 2017 to 92% twelve months later.
