Swiss Re, results for the first nine months of 2018

The results for the first nine months of 2018 show a significant increase of 1.09 billion USD in Swiss Re's net profit. As a reminder, the reinsurer recorded a loss of 468 million USD during the same period of 2017. The health and life classes of business have significantly contributed to this trend reversal.

Gross premiums amounted to 28.4 billion USD compared to 26.7 billion USD for the first three quarters of 2017, an increase of 6.5%. The combined ratio went from 114.1% in 2017 down to 99.5% in 2018.
