Swiss Re the world's leading reinsurer in 2018

Swiss Re has knocked Munich Re off its position and becomes the world's number one reinsurer in terms of premiums.

According to AM Best 's ranking "Top 50 Global Reinsurers 2018" , the Swiss reinsurer henceforth ranks first t with 36.406 billion USD in premiums against 35.814 USD billion for Munich Re. With the exception of 2016, the German reinsurer, now second, has always ranked first since 2010.

The 2018 edition is also marked by Berkshire Hathaway's decline from third to fifth place. Hannover Re and SCOR have gained one place each.
