Tens of thousands of drivers without insurance

The Fonds de Garantie des Assurances Obligatoires de Dommages (the Guarantee Fund of Compulsory Non-life Insurance) has revealed that 81 799 fines for non-insurance have been reported by police and the gendarmerie on a fleet of 37.033 million vehicles circulating in France. The Fund has opened 20 266 cases and paid 73 million EUR (104 million USD) to victims of accidents due to non-insurance.
