The 2009 results

The Senegalese federation of insurance companies(FSSA) has posted its 2009 figures. The total life and non-life premiums have reached 79 billion FCFA (176 million USD), compared to 73.329 billion FCFA (161 million USD) in 2008, that is, a growth nearing 9%. Non-life insurance has reported a turnover of 63.454 billion FCFA (141.4 million USD), +6% in comparison with 2008. With a market share of 36.91%, motor insurance has reported premiums worth 23.422 billion FCFA (52.2 million USD) that is, a 7.2% progression in comparison with 2008. Marine, health and fire classes of business follow with respective market shares of 21.60%, 18.76% and 9.82%. Life insurance has posted premiums of 16.451 billion FCFA (36.6 million USD) that is, a 24.4% increase in comparison with 2008.
