The American insurer CNA Financial pays a record ransom
Following a cyber-attack, CNA Financial has agreed to pay hackers 40 million USD. The transaction was made two weeks after the ransomware attacked the American insurer's networks.
Detected on 21 March 2021, the hacking blocked the teams' access to the company's systems. Confidential data was also stolen.
According to the insurer, registration, claims, underwriting systems and the majority of policyholder data were not affected by the attack.
