The chief executive of Munich Re leaves the group

Nikolaus von Bomhard, chairman of the group executive board (CEO) since 2004, has withdrawn from his office within Munich Re. The date of departure is set for April 26, 2017.

It's Joachim Wenning who takes over him in this position. Aged 51, J.Wenning joined Munich Re in 1991 as underwriter of life treaties for Germany. He then held various positions including head of human resources.

N. Von Bomhard could reinstate Munich Re in late 2019, to chair the supervisory board, after the departure of Bernd Pischetsrieder, the current incumbent of the position.
