The crisis has affected Generali

Generali has suffered a 5.5% decline compared to 2010 in its 2011 written gross premiums which amount to 69.2 billion EUR (89.6 billion USD). The culprit is the life insurance which sustained a 9.3% decrease at 46.4 billion EUR (60 billion USD). The group’s French subsidiary has been most disappointing with a 20.9% decline of its life premiums. Non-life insurance has exhibited better resistance thanks to its 3% increase at 22.8 billion EUR (29.5 billion USD). As regards the non-life business, Generali France has reported the most important growth with +4.2%.
