The health insurance project approved by the authorities

The Qatari authorities have approved the draft law introducing compulsory health insurance for foreign workers in the private sector. All Qataris and residents, including expatriates and people on temporary stays should purchase this coverage. For the latter, the insurance premium will be paid while applying for visas. The State will provide premium payment for all nationals. Non-Qatari employers will pay the premiums of their employees and their families.

This coverage will provide access to free health care in centers chosen by insurance companies for sudden or chronic illness, regardless of the cost and duration of treatment. A specialized company "National Health Insurance" will be established to manage this activity.
