The increase of major cyclonic events is animating the debates in Monte Carlo

During the 61st Monte Carlo meeting , which is taking place from 9 to 14 September 2017, reinsurance professionals have expressed their concern about the increasing major cyclonic events.

Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which occurred over two weeks in the United States, will leave behind them a heavy bill for reinsurers. The losses caused by these two events in the only region of the south-east part of the country, should unbalance the market results.

Reinsurers' concerns are all the more justified as the sector has been entangled, for some years, in a downward cycle which has jeopardized its profitability.
