The Insurance Association of Gambia intensifies sensitization and growth

The Insurance Association of Gambia (IAG) announced, during its annual meeting, the relaunch of its local population sensitization program.

To do so, IAG plans to resume the publication of its magazine "The Insurance Forum" as well as its interventions on national and private radio stations.

In addition to the renewal of the sensitization program, the association plans to launch a comprehensive training program for employees and executives of the trade, in collaboration with the West African Insurance Institute (WAII).

The program was suspended in 2014 during the reform of the IAG. The public's enthusiasm for this initiative last year, however, encouraged the revival of the program according to Henry Jawo, general secretary of the association.

Speaking about the contribution of insurance in GDP, Almamy B Jobarteh, president of the IAG, finds that the market potential is not yet fully exploited, despite the increase in the number of companies to 13 since the arrival of Royal Insurance Gambia Limited.

However, the sector is getting ready, according to him, to accelerate its growth now that the Insurance Act is being reviewed by the central bank.
