The insured losses of Cyclone Mekunu reach 403.7 million USD

According to data provided by the Omani Capital Market Authority (CMA) the insured losses resulting from the tropical cyclone Mekunu amount currently to 403.7 million USD.

As a reminder, Cyclone Mekunu severely affected the South of the Sultanate and part of Yemen in May 2018.

Very strong winds and torrential rains accounted for the damage caused mainly to goods, vehicles and infrastructure.

The claims received by the CMA amount to 1 123, that is 243 million USD, which represents half the total value of the losses.
