The market turnover has reached 99.9 billion DZD in 2012

The turnover of the Algerian insurance has grown by 14.1% in 2012 at 99.9 billion DZD (1.28 billion USD). It is divided between non-life insurance which accounts for 93% of this total and personal line insurance which accounts for 7%.
In non-life insurance, 55% of premiums are generated from motor insurance. Earthquake insurance, made compulsory after the 2003 Boumerdes earthquake, remains at a standstill despite multiple awareness campaigns. This class of business accounts for only 1.5% of the overall revenues.
