Accomplishment of an 18-month work, "e-constat" shall allow the insured to notify their motor material claims to their insurers through their smartphones.

The application will be operational on December 1st 2014, and available on Google and Apple electronic stores.

The insured will go through seven steps to achieve his car accident statement, namely:

  • identification of the insurer ;
  • information about the car (with pictures to illustrate the damage) ;
  • circumstances of the accident ;
  • sketching (directly on mobile screen or on paper to capture with a photo thereafter) ;
  • additional comments ;
  • preview of the statement in PDF format ;
  • electronic signature.

Note that the scope of "e-constat" extends only to vehicles registered in France. The system should be gradually introduced in other European countries starting from 2015.
