The new development plan for Continental Re

The Nigerian reinsurance company Continental Re has presented its new strategic development plan. The reinsurer’s approach is based on the creation of new subsidiaries operating throughout the continent.

The first establishment is set up in Botswana, a country located in the center of the South African Development Community (SADC). This organization is intent on spending 64 billion USD on projects for regional infrastructure, which will certainly support insurance operations. Moreover, a series of private investments are scheduled in the areas of mining, gas and oil. Botswana is a stable country endowed with sound economy. Continental Re hopes to obtain better access to the regional markets from this new platform and benefit from the potential of growth offered by SADC.
