The number of brokers in decrease

The Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) is concerned about a decline in the number of insurance brokers. In 2014, 1 800 jobs were cut, an 11% decrease in the number of professionals. For indication, the market has now half the number of agents in 2003.

According to experts, the rapid desertification of the activity is due to the entry into force of new rules aiming to improve consumer protection and to a decrease in profit margins.
