The storms have cost 2.2 billion USD in the first 11 months of the year

France has sustained many climate events in 2014. Floods, rain, thunderstorms and hail caused damage of around 1.8 billion EUR (2.2 billion USD) in the first 11 months of the year according to the French insurance association.

Heavy rainfall between November 26 and December 1 in the south would cost insurers between 180 and 220 million EUR (224 and 274 million USD).

For the period extending from 1988 to 2007, natural catastrophes had cost insurance companies 34 billion EUR (42 billion USD), that is an average of 1.5 billion EUR (1.86 billion USD) per year.
