The Tunisian agricultural damage compensation fund to begin operations

Agriculture The agricultural damage compensation fund, whose purpose is to cover the agricultural damages caused by natural disasters, began operating on October 28, 2019. It provides a compensation scheme for participating farmers and fishermen.

The management of the fund is delegated to the Tunisian agricultural mutual insurance fund (CTAMA), an insurer specializing in agricultural risks.

Over the past eight years, natural disasters caused 345 million TND (114.6 million USD) in damage to farmers, 131 million TND (43.5 million TND) of which were born by the State, that is 38% of the total losses.
