The World Trade Center costs insurers 2 billion USD

The case of the biggest claim in history has been concluded. A group of 7 insurers and reinsurers, among which, Allianz, Employers Insurance of Wausau, Royal Indemnity, Swiss Re, The Travelers and Zurich Financial services AG, decided to disburse an additional compensation worth 2 billion USD for the loss of the two twin towers destroyed in the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The cost pertaining to the reconstruction project of the new building on the site of the two destroyed towers amounts to 9 billion USD.
Larry Silverstein, the owner of the building has received a compensation of 4.68 billion USD, that is, two thirds of the sums initially claimed.
