Thomas Cook bankruptcy, Germany could sue Zurich Insurance

Thomas CookGermany, through its Minister of Justice, is considering filing a complaint against Zurich Insurance for insufficient reimbursement of repatriation costs. The bankruptcy of the tour operator Thomas Cook in Germany is the cause of this dispute. It follows that of its parent company in September 2019 which left thousands of customers stranded abroad.

The dispute between the German government and the tour operator is over the reimbursement limit provided by the regulation in the event of bankruptcy. For the German authorities, this limit amounts to 170 million EUR (188.5 million USD) and not 110 million EUR (122 million USD) as estimated by Thomas Cook.
