Top 10 most costly disasters in 2021
The British organization Christian Aid has published a study on the ten most costly natural disasters in 2021. These weather events generated damages totaling more than 170 billion USD, which represents a 13% increase compared to 2020.
In this report, the majority of the estimates are based on insured losses, which means that the actual costs are much higher. The 2021 ranking has mainly focused on disasters occurring in rich countries with more developed and better insured infrastructures.
