Training on agricultural risks in Senegal

A training session on agricultural risks was held from October 9 to 13, 2017 in Dakar. Nearly 40 Senegalese farmers took part in this meeting.

Co-hosted by the platform for the management of Agricultural risks (PARM) and the international fund of agricultural development (FIDA), the initiative has been designed to improve farmers’ resilience against risks of this sector.

For the record, agriculture accounted for 17.5% of GDP of Senegal in 2015, occupying 50% of working population. This important economic sector is up against several obstacles such as drought, declining soil fertility and attacks of harmful insects.
