Tunisian insurers: compensations in decline in H1 2020

According to the General Insurance Committee (CGA), the indemnities paid by Tunisian insurers during H1 2020 have decreased by 16% to 528 million TND (183.216 million USD) against 628.8 million TND (212.357 million USD) for the same period in 2019.

Motor indemnities fell by 26% to 247.5 million TND (85.882 million USD) compared to 337.3 million TND (113.9 million USD) a year earlier. This decline is mainly due to the decrease in road accidents during the lockdown period.

During the same period, the market recorded the underwriting of 1.564 million contracts, down 10% in comparison with H1 2019.
