UN calls insurers to better cover climate risks

At a high-level meeting on climate change resilience, held on April 13, 2016, Ban Ki-moon called insurance companies to improve coverage of risks related to climate change. The Secretary General of the UN asked insurers to establish more collective management structures of worldwide climate risks by 2020.

The head of the United Nations also stressed the importance of addressing the problem at its root. He thus urged insurers to invest more in low-carbon projects and to build more environmentally respectful portfolios.
