United States hard hit by hurricane Sandy

After the Caribbean where 67 casualties were reported, it is now the Eastern coast of America to be lashed hard by hurricane Sandy. The rise of water levels and the violent winds have claimed the lives of at least 72 people in the United States and in Canada.

The cyclone also caused considerable material damages amounting to tens of billions of dollars.

According to an estimate elaborated by Eqecat on November 5, 2012, economic losses are poised to attain 50 billion USD while insured losses would range between 10 and 20 billion USD.
