US broker sanctioned for illegal automated calls
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) intends to fine Interstate Brokers of America 45 million USD for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
The U.S. broker allegedly made automated calls without the written consent of the contacted party. It also placed calls containing false statements about the pandemic in order to entice people to underwrite health insurance.
This is the highest sanction to be proposed by the FCC, which will make its final decision after an in-depth review of the situation.
It should be recalled that a robocall is a telephone system based on an automated calling machine that dials telephone numbers to deliver a pre-recorded message.
