Visa for the USA: health insurance becomes compulsory

Starting from October 3, 2019, the underwriting of a health insurance policy became mandatory for legal immigrants to the United States. The new procedure provides for three cases:

• 1st case: the legal immigrant provides a health insurance certificate when applying for a visa
• 2nd case: the legal immigrant purchases a health insurance policy in the United States within 30 days of entering the country
• 3rd case: the legal immigrant who does not wish to take out an insurance policy must prove that he has the adequate financial resources that enable him to cover any foreseeable medical costs.
