WFP underwrites its first insurance policy against climate risks

Following the signing of its Replica contract with ARC (African Risk Capacity), the World Food Program (WFP) is henceforth insured against climate risks.

Dedicated to humanitarian organizations, the policy aims at protecing t risk areas from climate shock. A loss becomes effective when some indicators such as the level of rainfall or the condition of vegetation reach a certain level shown by the satellite.

Mauritania and Mali are the first countries to benefit from this WFP coverage.
