Yemenia Airways A310 crash: trial begins in Paris

Yemenia Airbus A310The Yemenia Airways A310 crash trial started on Monday 9 May 2022, at the Paris Criminal Court. The flight "Yemenia 626" from Sana'a (Yemen) to Moroni (Comoros), sank at sea on the evening of 29 June 2009, a few kilometers off its final destination.

The air crash cost the lives of 141 passengers and 11 crew members. Only one person survived the crash.

The trial, which will last four weeks, comes after thirteen years of waiting for the families of the victims. It will shed light on the circumstances that led to this disaster and will establish the liability of each party in this accident.

Negligence on the part of the crew during the approach phase seems to be the main cause of the crash. According to the lawyers of the airline, several technical constraints may also be at the origin of the tragedy.
