Allianz and Groupama are removing the riot coverage from their commercial insurance policies for Martinique and Guadeloupe.
This decision came a few days after the Italian group Generali had stopped underwriting commercial risks in the French West Indies.
The June 2023 riots in France, which cost insurers more than 700 million EUR (736 million USD), and the 2024 social unrest in New Caledonia have prompted the region's leading insurers to review their positioning.
