A customer has won 10 000 USD after discovering a well-hidden quiz game in the last pages of her insurance contract.
While studying the general clauses of the travel insurance policy which she has previously underwritten, Donelan Andrews came across this statement: « If you have reached this level, you are one of the rarest customers of Tin Leg who scrutinized the insurance policy in its entirety ». Consequently, The Tin Leg company, a subsidiary of Squaremouth insurance company, invited the zealous reader to present herself in order to be granted the prize.
The lucky one, a 59 year-old teacher living in Georgia, purchased her insurance for a friend trip to London. She explained that she is used to read the small prints in documents in order not to be deceived. She even teaches her students to get into this habit and to carefully read the topics.
The story communicated by the Washington Post in early March, is not only a good publicity for Squaremouth but it also highlights the difficulty of understanding the terms of the contracts. In this framework, multiple insurance startups are working towards solutions to simplify the insurance policies.
As for Donelan Andrews, she intends to enjoy her jackpot by going on a trip to Scotland with her husband.
