Anthem acquires Cigna for 54.2 billion USD

The second American health insurer Anthem has purchased its rival Cigna for the amount of 54.2 billion USD. The transaction will be finalized in the second half of 2016.

The giant created by this merger will have the ability to cover 53 million members for an annual estimated turnover of 115 billion USD. Anthem's shareholders should hold 67% of the new company.
