African Risk Capacity Limited (ARC Ltd) and Klapton Re have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen climate risk protection in Africa. This collaboration is aimed at developing and deploying new insurance solutions tailored to the needs of farmers and low-income families.
The first program is due to be launched in Zambia in November 2025, and will target drought-prone grazing areas.
Both organizations have underscored the urgency of this initiative in light of the growing impact of climate change across Africa, and plan to significantly expand access to climate insurance by combining their expertise and networks.
