An Air India Boeing 787 crashed on Thursday, 12 June 2025, shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad in Northwest India.
The London-bound plane was carrying 242 passengers and crew members, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese citizens.
The provisional death toll stands at 265, including 24 people on the ground. Only one passenger survived the crash.
According to the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the aircraft crashed outside the perimeter of Ahmedabad airport after issuing an emergency call.
Videos and images of the crash show thick black smoke rising over the city.
