Charlie Shamieh to succeed Ajit Jain as Head of Berkshire Hathaway’s insurance division

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Berkshire Hathaway has appointed Charlie Shamie, Chairman of Gen Re, to succeed Ajit Jain at the helm of the U.S. group’s insurance operations.

Shamieh is expected to assume the role upon Jain’s retirement. Jain is currently 74 years old.

With nearly three decades of industry experience, Shamieh previously held senior leadership positions at Munich Re and AIG before joining Gen Re in 2018.
