COP29: Loss and Damage fund becomes operational

First announced at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), the Loss and Damage fund is now fully operational.

This decision was made on the sidelines of COP29, held from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The fund was established as a means of compensating the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

The Loss and Damage fund will begin financing projects starting in 2025.
