The cost of health insurance fraud

In its report "Fraud Insights Vol.2: November 2020", the French start-up Shift Technology has estimated the amount of health insurance fraud, abuse and undue payments (FWA) worldwide at 500 billion EUR (598.212 billion USD) per year.

In France, during the first lockdown from 17 March to 11 May 2020, that is, over two months, the study estimated the fraud among opticians alone at 300 000 EUR (358 927 USD).
