An initial estimate by PERILS suggests that Cyclone Alfred in Australia could result in insured losses totaling 2.568 billion AUD (1.6 billion USD).
Accompanied by strong winds and torrential rain, Cyclone Alfred hit the states of Queensland and New South Wales from 28 February to 12 March 2025, triggering flash floods.
The natural disaster led to widespread power outages, disruptions to transportation services, including the suspension of flights, and school closures.
The human toll stands at one death and over 30 injuries.
