The EC investigates the Aon and Willis Towers Watson’s merger

The European Commission (EC) is conducting an in-depth investigation into Aon's 30 billion USD acquisition of Willis Towers Watson.

The Commission says the transaction could reduce the choice of European customers and increase prices in the commercial risk market. Brussels also fears the merger would reduce competition for large international groups.

The institution is required to take a decision on the merger between the two brokerage giants, before 10 May 2021.
