Farmers require a modification of crop insurance

Turkish farmers have appealed to the authorities to ensure that "special drought" provisions be included in their crop insurance.

The year 2013 one of the driest in recent year, has seriously affected the farmers' crops.

Semsi Bayraktar, President of the "Turkish Agricultural Chambers Union" (TZOB) called on the government to add drought to the list of natural catastrophes covered by Tarsim, the agricultural insurance scheme subsidized by the government.
