floods in SpainOn 29 October 2024, torrential rains hit southern and eastern Spain, causing deadly floods. Provisional figures put the death toll at 217.

The Valencia region was particularly affected by the disaster. Heavy rainfall also hit Andalusia, where several rivers overflowed, as well as the Castilla-La Mancha region, located between Madrid and Valencia.

Many roads were blocked, schools closed and flights cancelled.
