A 34-year old Chinese, who underwrote a life insurance policy for a capital of 988.767 CNY (140 000 USD), faked his death by throwing his car in a river. The local authorities recorded the death of the policyholder despite the fact that the body was not found.
Being in a state of sock, the wife who was not aware of her husband's plan, killed her two children and then committed suicide. The woman left an explanatory letter announcing her desire to accompany her husband in the afterlife.
The day following the tragedy, the man went to the police to explain the reasons for his action. The young man needed money to treat his epileptic daughter. Hence the idea of taking out an insurance policy and simulating his death to collect funds.
