Insurance fraud: motor assessors in the firing line

Moroccan insurance companies have investigated several cases of fraud in which motor assessors are allegedly involved. The latter are said to have participated in the creation of files for fake road accidents.

In Morocco, the turnover of the motor business increased from 11.15 billion MAD (1.17 billion USD) in 2018 to 11.9 billion MAD (1.32 billion USD) in 2020, implying a 6.72% growth in three years. During this period, a strong increase in claims has been recorded, leading to a 10% decline in the class of business.
