Mamadou G K Koné, new FANAF President

Mamadou G. K. Koné has been elected President of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF). The announcement was made at the conclusion of FANAF’s 50th General Assembly, held from 9 to 11 February 2026 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Mr. Koné succeeds César Ekomie-Afene, who has led FANAF since February 2020.

A graduate of the International Insurance Institute (IIA) in Yaoundé, the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE) in Paris, and the London Business School, Mr. Koné brings over 29 years of experience in the African insurance sector.

He has held leadership roles in insurance, reinsurance, and brokerage firms and served in executive positions at the National Directorate of Insurance of Côte d’Ivoire as well as the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA).

Currently, Mr. Koné holds several key positions:

  • Chief Executive Officer of SanlamAllianz Côte d’Ivoire (since 2014)
  • President of the Association of Insurance Companies of Côte d’Ivoire (ASA-CI) (since 2021)
  • Vice President of the General Confederation of Companies of Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI)

Meanwhile, Aymric Kamega has been appointed Vice President of FANAF. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of ACAM Vie (Cameroon) since 2016.
