Positive outlook for the global non-life reinsurance market

Morningstar DBRS, a financial services rating agency, maintains a positive outlook for the global non-life reinsurance (P&C) market.

According to the agency, reinsurers enjoyed strong profitability in the first quarter of 2024, thanks in particular to favourable market conditions, including higher reinsurance prices, fewer natural catastrophe claims and improved investment income.

For the current financial year as a whole, however, P&C reinsurance companies could face major challenges that could adversely affect their profits.

These challenges include the effects of climate change, interest rate volatility, geopolitical tensions and the global economic slowdown.
