SCOR-Covéa arbitration to proceed as scheduled

In a press release issued on 13 August 2025, French reinsurer SCOR confirmed that the arbitration process initiated in 2022 concerning its retrocession treaties with Covéa will proceed according to the original timetable. The arbitration court has rejected Covéa’s request for a stay of proceedings, opting to maintain the existing schedule. A final ruling is expected in 2026.

As a reminder, SCOR and Covéa had signed retrocession treaties in June 2021. However, in 2022, SCOR launched arbitration proceedings, alleging that Covéa had failed to meet its contractual obligations under the terms of the treaties.
