Following an intense heat wave, violent thunderstorms, combined with lightning, torrential rain, gusty winds and hail, swept across a large part of France, including Paris, on 25 June 2025.
Two people lost their lives and 17 were injured, including one in a critical condition. The storms caused widespread material damage. By midday on Thursday 26 June, 75 000 homes were still without power.
The storms left behind a trail of destruction, including flooded streets, uprooted trees, disrupted transportation, damaged vehicles and perforated roofs.
