Exhausted by long working hours, Lin Chin-hsiang, a young Taiwanese delivery man, fell asleep at the wheel of his van and hit three Ferraris parked at the edge of the road. No injuries have been reported but the damage has been estimated at 340.000 EUR (419.000 USD).
The amount is huge for a young man who had to give up his studies to support his family. Even his insurance, which capped the amount of reimbursements, was not sufficient enough to pay off the damage.
Taiwanese people have been deeply moved by this story. A call for donations has been launched by the Taipei Municipality, which has raised 21.000 EUR (26.000 USD) to date. The man still has to pay more than 300.000 euros (369.000 USD), while the Ferrari owners refuse to drop the lawsuits.
The delivery man must still sacrifice 28 years of his life to repay his debt. While waiting to find more financial help, Lin Chin-hsiang’s neighbors have lent him their van so that he does not lose his job.
