Volvo launches a technology to spot high-risk drivers

March 29, 2019

VolvoVolvo, one of the pioneers using connected devices into its cars, announces the forthcoming marketing of unprecedented functions allowing a greater safety.

For its new car models, the carmaker will install cameras and sensors to spot if the drivers are showing signs of fatigue, weakness or imprudence. These smart devices would be able to slow down the car, park it and ring the Volvo call center if the driver is unresponsive to the safety instructions.

Moreover, Volvo introduces the « Care Key » technology for 2021 which will allow the owner of the vehicle to set a limitation speed before lending it to a younger or inexperienced driver. This technology will first be fitted to larger models such as the XC90 SUV.

The company’s CEO states that since the Volvo customers will be driving safer cars, they shall soon benefit from a more affordable insurance premium.
