A young woman cuts off her hand to swindle her insurer

A young Slovenian woman was accused by the police in Ljubljana of having intentionnally cut off her hand with a saw in the aim of receiving insurance compensation.

The victim was admitted to the ER where she received intensive care and could reattach her hand.

The young lady and her partners in crime had purposefully left the amputated hand on the scene of the fake accident to cause permanent handicap. Nevertheless, the limb was picked up and sewed on time.

The investigation revealed that the victim had underwritten five insurance policies few months earlier. The scammers all members of the same family, were expecting to receive 380 000 EUR (428 000 USD) and a monthly annuity of 3 000 EUR (3 382 USD) under permanent disability.

The perpetrators of these acts, reported by the police on Monday, March 11th, could face up to eight years of imprisonment.
